The increased interest in decentralised energy projects in London and the requirements of the London Plan to consider connecting to existing or new district heating networks has led to new opportunities for utility companies and investors in the capital. The Mayor of London has taken a strong lead in pushing forward the decentralised energy agenda and creating the market for DE projects to succeed.
Through working with developers and boroughs to identify opportunities and then carrying out feasibility studies on their potential, a significant number of viable projects are now on the table for discussion.
Over the past four years, various options for energy supply and services have been reviewed and applied to projects in the capital as appropriate.
