Q 1. How long does it take to install the pipes?
Q 2. Will the street be dug up?
Q 3. What about parking spaces?
Q 4. Are there less disruptive technical solutions, instead of digging up the street?

A 1. There will be some associated disruptions with the installation of piping infrastructure for a DE network. The time this takes is entirely dependent upon the specific project. However, during most of this time the existing heating system can be used. Only when the new pipework and all the required items are installed up to the point of connection with the existing system, this has to be switched off to allow the final connection of the systems. This should normally take only a few hours.

A 2. There will be some associated disruptions with the installation of piping infrastructure for a DE network. If the most appropriate route for the DE is along the length of a street, then trenching will be required along the length of that street, to accommodation the pipe infrastructure.
A 3. There will be some associated disruptions with the installation of piping infrastructure for a DE network. If the proposed DE infrastructure runs through car parking spaces, then those car parking spaces will be suspended for the duration of the works.

A 4. Please note that it is not generally the entire street width that will be required to be dug up but the appropriate width of trench to accommodate the pipe work.  Whilst we are aware that during the works, there may be disruptions, any measures that can be taken to minimise disruption will be adopted.  In the same way that gas, water and electricity infrastructure require trenches to accommodate pipe work, it is the same case with district heating pipework.
